December 20, 2018

This week we received word that the specialty versions Olde Voyager, our 10% ABV English Barley Wine, brought home some hardware (full details below) from the 2018 World Beer Championships!

This past October, we released two bottled versions of Olde Voyager, one barrel aged in Port and the other barrel aged in Cabernet Sauvignon. Our brewers were pretty thrilled with the final product, and we’ve been very pleased with the reception these tap room only bottles received. We still have bottles available in the tap room, and can’t wait for you to give them a try!

Olde Voyager Port Barrel Aged

  • Silver Award (Barleywine Category)
  • Cellar Selection Honor

“Sunburst color. Aromas of fallen cherry, dried
leaves, nougat, and ground coffee with a satiny,
vibrant, spritzy, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a
warming, medium marinated mushrooms, parker
roll, cracked pepper, and oatmeal with brown
sugar finish. A solid barleywine with a nice thread
of peppy acidity.”

Olde Voyager Cabernet Sauvignon Barrel Aged

  • Bronze Award (Barleywine Category)

“Copper color. Interesting aromas and flavors of
mead, cedar, green apple candy, and tea leaves
with an oily, bright, spritzy, dry-yet-fruity medium
body and a warming, nuanced, medium-length
stewed apricot, orange marmalade, mushrooms,
parchment, and sherry finish. A fruity barley wine
that could be a nice introduction to the category.”
