Black Is Beautiful Beer Initiative
June 9, 2020
We brew beer. Beer is our love language and it is how we communicate what we are passionate about. Sometimes being passionate is not enough. Sometimes you need to step up and do more. For us, that time is now. Weathered Souls Brewing is spearheading a collaboration project called Black is Beautiful. This initiative’s purpose is for breweries across the country to come together for one common purpose:
The Black is Beautiful Initiative is to bring a collaborative effort among the brewing community and its customers, in an attempt to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. It is our mission to bridge the gap that has been around for ages and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any color. We are asking for all breweries and brewers far and wide to raise a glass with us in unison and participate in this collaboration.
NoDa Brewing is brewing our version of Black is Beautiful and releasing it on draft and in cans on Friday, July 31st. Beer is what we do to help our community and those in need. But we can do more than just donate $1 per pint or a percentage of sales or profits. Even giving 100% of sales would not be enough. Instead, we have donated $10,000 to Emancipate NC. And we will not stop there, this is only the beginning.
UPDATE:
When we first wrote this, we were actively putting together our internal plan to create change not only for us but also in our community. Here are some of the things we have done over the past few weeks.

This is our commitment to our friends, families, and communities both near and far.
Some are posting on social media. Some are protesting in the streets. Some are donating silently. Some are educating themselves. Some are having tough conversations with friends and family.
A revolution has many layers.
Be kind to yourself and to others who are traveling in the same direction.
Just keep your foot on the gas.
