Charlotte Independence Signature Beer
Over the last several years, since their inception in 2014, we’ve been proud beer sponsors and supporters of our city’s USL team, Charlotte Independence. Since the team’s beginning, we’ve loved seeing the increase of the fan base, as proven by the growing crowd we host during away games. While fans have been (hilariously) asking us to make a slight variation on our year-round Pale Ale from Jam Session to Jim Session, in honor of President and Managing Partner Jim McPhilliamy, we decided instead to brew them their very own signature beer.
With the help of Independence goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra, who also happens to be a homebrewer, we released 1775 Pale Ale this past Tuesday. 1775 references the date that the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence was signed, and of course, that event is what inspired the team’s name as well. One of our brewers, Bart Roberts (aka OG Funkmaster) developed the recipe for this classic Pale Ale, and spent an afternoon dry-hopping the brew with Dykstra. Check out their day together:
We absolutely love supporting such an amazing local team, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for our partnership in the future (there may be some really cool dual-branded swag in the works). If you haven’t made it out to a game yet this season, be sure to snag some tickets! And, if you haven’t gotten a sip of 1775 Pale Ale, swing into the tap room for a pint or a 32 oz. crowler to-go.
